New Batch Of Knives

Post by Paladin »

Guys,
I picked up a few knives today and the first one I examined was a custom Bowie and sheath which I am unable to ID, The ricasso is stamped with a coiled rattlesnake with Liberty or Death inscribed and then a signature with an unknown initial and HENRY. The initial in flowing script looks like an 'F' or maybe a 'T' or something else,, who knows. I looked on AZCK and I get page after page of Wm. Henry knives and also Henry Torres knives.
The knife needs to be tidied up some.
Anyone recognize this stamp? Any info will surely be appreciated.

Possibly an American Revolution commemorative. Give me liberty or death - Patrick Henry. No idea who made the knife but looks are deceiving - maybe imported.

The phrase "Liberty or Death" alongside a rattlesnake symbol is associated with the American Revolution, particularly the Gadsden flag and the Culpeper Minutemen. The rattlesnake, with its warning of potential harm, became a symbol of American resolve.

Look what I've found.

RR225 in the ebay seller's title and description reveals it is a Rough Ryder (RR). SMKW sells imported knives marked with other brands that have item numbers starting with RR that are in their table of contents under Rough Ryder. Most RR fixed blades are made in Pakistan. ::td:: Like many ebay sellers that one is hoping to hook a sucker.

I don't see an RR anywhere on the knife and eBay is not involved in this transaction so I guess I am not quite following you.

He is saying there is an identical knife on ebay (look at the link he provided). The knife has a box that has the RR model on it, you have an RR made in Pakistan knife. Patrick Henry was the patriot who said "Give me liberty or give me death".

I didn't understand his premise so thanks for explaining. And I do know who Patric Henry is. The initial really doesn't look like a 'P' but I'll take your word for it.
I really do thank everyone for their help on this.

I'll confess that I had an unfair advantage in this. I grew up in Henry County, Indiana and started studying about Patrick Henry in the 2nd grade. I agree that doesn't look like a P, but it ties in with give me liberty or death.

Yep that's a Rough Rider Commemorative. That's actually a copy of Patrick Henry's signature.

That is sure enuf the same as the knife. I never thought about that initial being a 'P'. As much as I dislike China knives, I have to admit that with a little clean up this would be a pretty decent knife. I'll stick it on a table at my next show and see what happens.
Thanks again for the help on this.
