Schrade auto replacement handle blanks

Post by Bill DeShivs »

Gary Claxon and I are working on a joint project to supply replacement handle blanks for all those celluloid handled Schrade knives that are deteriorating, or will deteriorate.

These are not direct replacement handles. The button and safety holes are cut-along with the slot for the button mechanism. Other than that, they are slightly oversize, must be drilled for the 3 pins, and ground to fit the liners and then contoured. This is probably not a do-it-yourself project, unless you have a lot of experience and the proper tools. But, it will allow experienced people to rehandle these knives in a much more economical fashion.

These handles will be acrylic and Kirinite-no celluloid.

I expect a batch of 3-3/8" tortoise handles to be ready in the next 3-4 weeks.

We may work on other brand handles. Shursnap handles shrink like crazy, as do Edgemasters. We already have patterns for 3-3/8" Flylocks.

Materials will include colors that match original handles. Black, red, blue pearl, white pearl, green pearl, smoked pearl, golden pearl, tortoise, and ivory. There may be more later.
