From Gerald Witcher’s Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery extensive section on authentic old stamps. As you can see, it’s a folding knife stamp.

If your religion requires that you hate someone, you need a new religion.
When the people fear their government, that is tyranny. When government fears the people, that is freedom.

Re: Old Case??
John Case was one of the owners of Case Brothers Cutlery, along with his brothers Andrew and Jean. Both Andrew and John had knives made on contract, mostly by Kane Cutlery of Kane, PA. (Andrew used the name Case Manufacturing Company, John used John D. Case Company or J.D. Case Company), apparently all at time they were also owners of Case Brothers).
Not to be confused with W.R. Case & Sons which was founded by Russell Case, who was nephew of the Case Brothers founders/owners. W.R. Case & Sons was a different company and a competitor of Case Brothers, until Case Brothers bankruptcy around 1915.
Not sure if that answers your question.
