I’ve been told it was Sowbelly and can’t remember how much the curves have to be make it a Sowbelly as only owned couple sows before. It’s little over 4-1/4” closed.

Nice knife, but I agree it’s not a “sowbelly”. I’d call it a serpentine stockman. Sowbelly pattern has a more pronounced “belly”. Sowbelly’s are also typically heavier looking than a stockman (they may it be actually heavier - they just “look” like it).

Some examples. Top to bottom: Case 6318 Serpentine Stockman, Moore Maker 5303 Sowbelly, Schrade 881Y Serpentine Stockman. Hope that helps.

Who do you guys believe made it? Western ? I was thinking it looked like a Winchester.

Nice Clark . I carried a Wards by Winchester that looked like that one. I think it was 3 7/8" though.

That is a Western States "Mountain Man Stockman"They used the same frame for a trapper,jack and the dynamite knife.

Nice knife, but I agree it’s not a “sowbelly”. I’d call it a serpentine stockman. Sowbelly pattern has a more pronounced “belly”. Sowbelly’s are also typically heavier looking than a stockman (they may it be actually heavier - they just “look” like it).

Because I have seen they made knives for Utica and the nail pull location on main blade is a what Utica was known for a lot of.

His kin back in NY furnished Platts with knives when he was setting up in Boulder, but before long he was making all his own knives. I don't think Utica was in the mix.

Great find . The 94 pattern I believe was only offered in the 1941 catalog pages . Most of the Pocket knifes in the “41 “ pages had limited production runs and are difficult to find .you can go to the western forum under 1940’s 94 pattern western states knife to see some more 94’s .If you would post you knife on the thread that would be great .

It does look like the 94 was offered in the 1921 catalog pages as 5394. then offered as the 53094 in 1931 catalog page you posted “ not invisible at all”’ 1941 was the only year. the dynamite knife was available .
