Found while searching for a sheepsfoot barlow

The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company was started by John Champlin and his son Tint in 1882. It was first incorporated under the name J.B.F. Champlin and Son as a wholesale distribution company based in Little Valley, New York. The business proved to be a successful endeavor, and it soon branched into a knife production company named Cattaraugus.

Not sure about that one. Can't find a 2149 in any literature I have. 2159 is a Barlow with a clip blade, 2139 is a spear blade. Also, I personally have never seen a pattern # stamped on the mark side of a main blade. It's rather shiny for a knife that is, at least, 62 years old. I'm no expert but I do have questions about that one. Hope it's legit. J.O'.

Thanks for the response, interesting. I hope it’s not a fake too but wasn’t that expensive regardless. Does seem that it’s been polished up so I’m pretty sure it’s old regardless.

I;m retracting my statement about not seeing a Catt with pattern numbers on the mark side. Here's a catalog pic of a "Moose" I own with the number on that side. (Mine is locked in a store display case and closed so I can't show a pic.)
I'm also sending a catalog pic of their Barlows, 2159 and 2139. Maybe they had a 2149 in a later caralog. Hope so. J.O'.
