Welcome to AAPK.
Can you be more specific? What do you want to know that isn’t stamped on the knife?

Welcome here, Fel.
As the knife is stamped "to his Majesty" it has a production date of 1875-1900 per
Goin's Encyclopedia.
It has Mother of Pearl covers and would be happily owned by a man or a woman.
Made by Joseph Rodgers; a renowned English cutler.

Thanks Joe! Should I suggest my mum insures it? She lost it years ago and recently found it again! And I thought it was quite a pretty little thing.

On the other hand being a pensioner maybe I should suggest she takes it to a dealer/antique shop and sells it. Might be a nice little buy of cash for her.

Cool knife,
to AAPK! Due to its size and popularity of knives made in this pattern, I would imagine it wouldn't sell for more than $40. But, since it belongs to your mother, it would be a nice keepsake from her.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Joe, if you're right, Goins is wrong. Victoria ruled England from 1837-1901 so any Rodgers knife from that time period would say "cutlers to her majesty". With the England on the blade it had to have been made under the reign of either King Edward or either of the last two King Georges.

Thanks Gene, I always like to give Goin's the credit when I quote something from the book
because I don't really know that history very well and if I ever did I have long forgotten it.
I always appreciate your attention to these kinds of things.

Hi Joe, glad you liked the correction! Goins as well as Levine's were written a long time ago and both contain mistakes which can be proven with more modern info. I am very surprised he made a mistake on the royal warrant marks since this was known when he wrote his magnificent book but mistakes happen. The royal warrant list is in Levine's and is accurate. Haven't seen you around the NCCA for a while, we all miss seeing you and your cool knives there.
