Hello,
My friend has asked me to identify a bayonet that he received after his grandfather's passing. I believe that he asked me because he knows that I dabble in pocket knives. Surprise!! I know next to nothing about bayonets! I believe that this bayonet has the look of a European, possibly German knife. I noticed that the luggage and attaching ring are placed such that the single sharp edge would be facing up when the bayonet is fixed onto the rifle. There are some marks on it and there is a date stamped into the hilt. I hope that these pictures will help. Between my friend and myself there is no other information that we can provide.
As usual, I thank you all in advance for anything that you can do to shed a little light on this.

Well CSZ is the manufacturer, could be for a Mauser rifle. But just search CSZ bayonet and you will find many for reference.
One looking similar on the bayonet and scabbard is described as:
A WW2 Czechoslovakian VZ98/22 Mauser bayonet in its steel scabbard

Thank you so much! I knew that someone out there would point me in the right direction. I was able to download a lot of information on CSZ bayonets, and was able to provide my friend with enough info to satisfy him. Again, thanks so much for your help!
