Didn't make the CUT!

Post by GSPTOPDOG »

I post a lot of pictures on the AAPK site (some members might say too many  ). So, inevitably I end with quite a few photos that "don't make the cut". I try and maintain the highest quality of standards when taking knife and other sharp object pictures to post on AAPK. I messed up pictures by every conceivable way possible; turning on the flash by accident, cutting my hand with the knife I am trying to post, having my dog stroll over and stick his nose (and or entire body) in the picture. Taking the picture out of focus ... ::doh:: etc... etc... ::facepalm::

So, as I was cleaning up my camera's memory card and deleting pictures, I thought I would share some of my bloopers and see if anyone else out there has ever taken a bad picture as well (I suspect the I-Man has NOT). Feel free to post your shots that "Didn't make the CUT" .... ::dang:: ... ::facepalm::

Hey Bud, hate to ruin your image of me, but I usually try to take a dozen or two pics and PLAN on rejecting most of them. If I end up with 3-4 good ones I feel fortunate. Regularly. Often most of them don't make the cut because of being out of focus, finger in the frame, not centered, upside down, etc. Never ends so I take plenty to cover all the mistakes. There. My secret is out. Bad pics happen every time I use the camera. ALWAYS. But thanks for thinking I'm a better photographer than I'll ever live to be. That's nice of you. By the way, I like the dog nose poking in there. ::tu::

R&R, you would think as a knife collector I would safe around sharp objects... ::doh:: .... ::facepalm:: However, I can't believe how many times I have cut myself in the past couple of years, if I was a hemophiliac, I would already be dead ::uc::

I did this when I was 10, farm machinery don't feel a thing. My pap had a thumb and pinkie on his left hand, farm accident too.

I do what Iman said he does - I take a whole bunch of pics of a knife. For me, it’s fun going through and trying to decide which to use- basing it on real fine nuances - is it entered in the photo, is the lighting right, is everything on the knife in good focus, is there something in the background I don’t like, etc., etc. Sometimes I reject them all, and then go reshoot.

I can now say the two great moments of disillusionment in my life have come to pass: The first when I was about 8 years old, I learned that there was no Santa Claus 😢😥... and NOW .... to learn that the I-Man has taken a bad picture 😱 I am left devastated and in a state of shock!

*Note: I-Man, even if you do make a mistake every now and then, you still take the BEST pictures (overall) on AAPK
