The Queen Classic #60

I don't see many photos of these knives very often, so I thought I would share here. These are early 2000's Queen Classics #60 belt knife in stag, redstag and buffalo horn. Not the best photo (the light was pretty glaring), sorry about that. These things are big, slightly bigger than the Buck 119. I was lucky to stumble across these available as a group, and grabbed them soon as I could. Enjoy. First time posting pictures here, hope it works.

This knife was also made with tortoise shell casein and ram's horn handles (which I do not have), and there exists a prototype with Coral Casein. The prototype was actually sold here on AAPK at some time in the past.

Here are production numbers (as far as I can determine):
Stag 100 made
Redstag 50 made
Tortoise Shell Casein 25 made
Buffalo Horn 25 made
Ram's Horn 30 made

Here is a photo of the prototype. I have no idea how many of these were produced.

It’s good to see these. I really like the Queen City Cutlery Classics. Didn’t know these fixed blades existed. So thank you for posting these. I’ve had quite a few QCCC knives over the years and they are amongst my favorites made by Queen.
I appreciate the production numbers for future reference.

The QCCC knives are actually a different and later produced series. They have a very similar name, but you can tell them apart because the original Classic series (produced under Bill Howard's watchful eye at Queen) do not have "City" in the name. I do not know if there were any fixed-blade knives produced in that series.

From what I have been able to gather, there appear to be three different Queen Classic series.

The first one was:

Queen Cutlery Co Classics, 2003-2006 - SFO made by Queen (with Bill Howard) for Ken Daniels

Then, Bill and Ken run off and start GEC, and queen makes:

Queen City Cutlery Classics, 2008-2011 - made by Queen (without Bill Howard) for Queen

Then, Ken Daniels departs GEC, buys Queen, and we get:

Frank Power's Queen Classics, 2012-??? - SFO made by Queen/DFC for Frank Powers

The knives which are the topic of this thread come from the first series.

I focus my collecting on the first series; the quality tends to be comparable to Schatt and Morgan Knives from that same period, i.e. excellent.

Very cool. Clearly a #60, and you don't see many of those of any stripe. Do you happen to know the year of production of this knife?

I did but I forget! I was gonna write it down. Got it from a guy who stopped at Queen every week for years on his way from work. Hes got a whole lot of good stuff, some in multiples some very rare. He cant nail the exact years but he knows close. He should have written it down too!

I ask because I cannot find this model in any Queen catalog (that I possess) and I am trying to figure out when they (other than the Classics) were made. Does your knife have a tang stamp on the other side? Do you have the original sheath?

Knife is stamped only on one side, QUEEN CITY. There were no sheaths nor boxes . This is true for a lot of knives made in small numbers. I hope to get some photos of his other more rare pieces, someday. He had a buddy on the inside who would alert him to the good stuff, some made in very small numbers, like 3-4-5-10 pieces etc. real hard to research this stuff. The quality control forelady is out of touch, maybe passed? and she knew a lot of good stuff that even the higher ups didnt know. I cant seem to get answers even from the top Queen collectors nor bill Howard. they just dont know.
