We need to see some pictures of the knife to determine what you have. The 6251 FK SS was the 1983 club knife, but it has bone handles, not pearl. There is a serial number on the right front (mark side) bolster of each knife. The Collector’s Club 6251 knives come up for sale on eBay fairly often so an advanced search there for sold listings only of “Case Collectors Club 6251 knife” will show examples, and what they’re selling for, which is probably something you want to know. A knife with pearl covers from the factory should have an “8” as the first number in the pattern (8251). I haven’t seen a 1983 Case Collectors Club knife with pearl covers.

If you can be more specific than “some feedback” regarding what you’re wanting to know, it would help. See below for a picture of the 1983 Case Collector’s Club 6251 FK SS.

I agree with Ken, that knife came with bone handles and not pearl so it must have been re-covered.

I'm not much of a Case guy but these are some of my observations:
  • There is no serial number on the right front (mark side) bolster of the knife
  • The 6251FK SS model number doesn't correspond to the handle material on the knife
  • The handle material in the pictures is either low-quality MOP or not MOP, hard to tell from the pictures
My conclusion is that when hafting the new handle materials, the serial number was eliminated. The knife in-hand most likely started as the 1983 knife for CCC but has been modified with new handle materials. Others with more Case experience will be by to weight-in. ::nod::

Knife has at some point been re-handled with genuine mother of pearl. The shield pin color gives this away without looking much further. Pins should be but are not nickel silver.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Astute observations, Tom. Something else that sends up a red flag to me is the brass pins on the shield. Not gonna say Case never did that but I can’t recall ever seeing it. Typically the shields, being nickel silver are attached with nickel silver pins, which are then “blended” together during hafting. Pretty difficult to blend brass pins into a nickel silver shield.

Whoever did the re-handle did a pretty good job with the MOP covers.

Thanks for the feedback, it is what I have come to believe also. I'LL just continue to hold on to the knife
and let others take a look. i have had it probably nigh on 30 years, bought with 150/200 other knives.
