Do you know someone who knows somone

Post by timdog44 »

This thread is way off pocket knifes. I have a dear friend whose husband died and he has a small collection of Civil War cannon balls and shot. I know enough to look some of them up on eBay and other places but there is more to them. She has a guy who is interested in them but from what I can tell they are worth several hundred dollars and maybe more. I have warned her off selling them until I can find out more about them. Can someone here put me in touch or guide me to someone who knows about these things?

I googled "Civil War relic dealers in Gettysburg" and got about 8. I'm a Civil War buff and have been to many of the stores there. They are knowledgeable and established. I agree she should wait and get some good advice. As a reference, I have a 3" "Absterdam" Parrot Rifle round and it's probably worth $300. There is a site called "The Civil War Research Center" that has great pictures of various ordnance. Good luck with it. J.O'.
