Rough rider pivot pins

Just disassembled a RR to rehandle and do some filework and found that the pivot pin holes are different on the scales. Left side is .106 dia and rt side is .101. Blade clearance is big enough that it will not be a problem. Rocker pin is also .101. The questions are; What size pin to use, should I drill out the smaller hole to match the larger, anyone know where to get .106 ni silver pin mtl, I can always turn down .125 pin material or can I drill all out to .125 (plus clearance for rocker and blade holes) and is the different size holes an important issue to assembling things back together? This is my first disassembly and want to learn any new concepts before they bite my butt. I also remember somewhere that a blade spacer must be used when repinning the thing back together. Planning to use tiger coral to rehandle and don't plan on using pins to attach it, just 2 ton epoxy and blind rocker pin.

Hi Mike....I haven't bumped into different pin sizes on each side....or if I did, I "accidentally" drilled them both to the same diameter.

Regarding the shim, I use 0.015 and it works good for me. I notched out a feeler gauge to fit around the pivot pin. I used to use 0.008, but it was too tight most of the time.

I would suggest that if you try to drill out the blade hole, you may have problems.

Thx for the reply. I think with your guidance I will go to .106 for all holes and just turn down .125 stock to that dia. I think I can see your prediction for trouble to bore all out. Peening the pivot pins gives me the krrreepps tho, as does removing stock from the tiger coral. These scales will only be about .125 thick when they fit the bolsters, although I will probably swell them a little in the middle. Going to use nickle silver pins to blend with the bolsters.

just turn a pin down on a beltsander, taper it so it matches each hole fairly well then peen.
