Hello. I've got another knife I could use your depth of knowledge to help identify.
This is a beautiful gray color sawn bone single blade that looks like a Barlow, but the only identifying marks look like initials cut into the tang that may read JX or XL, depending on how you hold it.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Interesting knife! I'm not an expert, but it appears to me that it was a hand made knife.
Pretty cool!

Dale beat me to it.
I have not seen a production knife with that exact pin placement. I can see an extra pin that appears to be just to hold the bolsters on, and too far up near the edge for most designs.
I agree that it is hand made, and by someone who can make a fairly good knife, judging just by the pictures!

Agreed it looks handmade and well made too. Nice knife.

I dont think I have ever seen a folder with 8 visible pins. The markings are made with individual steel letter stamps. Definitely homemade and in my opinion, not that well made.

For sure a home made handle. I suspect the blade is a repurposed factory blade. The nail nick is too good given the rest of the knife. Although still an interesting knife.
