Requesting prayer for my father and the family.
First I want to thank all of you guys for your prayers for my Mom before she passed April 30, 2022. Mom and Dad had been married almost 73 years when she passed and nobody in the family thought Dad would live more than a couple of months without Mom. Dad turned 94 this December and he has been going downhill for several months. He's now in a wheelchair and my niece, Rachel, is caring for him. She and her family live in the big house and Dad is living in the little house. I went down to see Dad last week and he didn't even get out of his recliner all the time I was there. We believe he's had a series of small strokes and his words are slurred and his memory and cognition are definitely impaired. Yesterday he was put on hospice, and probably should have been put on it a couple of months ago.
Rachel told me for the last week he has been talking to people, even though he was the only one in the house besides her. The last few nights some man has been singing to him all night long but he just can't understand the words. Tonight he told her he can almost understand the words now. When my sister, Rachel's mother, comes over to visit Dad they will sing to him. Tonight Rachel played a song for him and he said, "That's it, that's the song he is singing to me."
The song she played was, Beyond The Sunset.
We believe his time has come and he will soon be with Mom and our Lord. My prayer request is that you would pray that he would pass peacefully into eternity, into the presence of Our Lord. Also pray for the family, I know it will be hard on Rachel. She took care of he and Mom before she passed and that was hard on her. I am at peace because I know he is at peace and he knows where he is going.
God bless you all, and thank you for your prayers.
Dale

Prayers for you all. I knew my Dad was passing and put one of his favorite John Wayne westerns on the TV so he could hear it.

Re: Requesting prayer for my father and the family.
Thank you guys for all your prayers. My brother and sister-in-law were down to see him today and one of my sisters and her husband was there also. The general consensus is it will be sooner rather than later that he will pass. I was able to talk to him on the phone briefly this afternoon, but I could not understand what he was saying other than "I love you."
Our God it's full of Grace and Mercy, I don't think Dad will linger much longer. And that is indeed a Mercy at this point.
Interestingly Dad keeps seeing people and talking to them. He said he didn't know exactly who they were, but they were from church. Hebrews 12 says we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, I think that's perhaps who he is seeing.

Re: Requesting prayer for my father and the family.
I want to thank you all for your prayers for my Dad and my family. My Dad left this life this morning about 4:30, and joined my Mother with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is no longer in suffering, and that is a blessing and a mercy.
Thanks again for your prayers.

I rejoice in knowing that your Dad has a place in Heaven, and I know that the Lord will bring you peace and comfort, yet it is normal and healthy to experience grief.
Am lifting up you and your family in prayer.

I'm sorry, I just saw this today. I am so sorry for your loss, Dale, but it sounds like your dad got a few extra years with family, and when he went, he was ready to go. Though it still hurts to lose a parent, there will be good times ahead as you know he is at peace now.
My prayers are with you and your family.

Re: Requesting prayer for my father and the family.
Thank you all for your prayers and your encouraging words. Dad and I were pretty close and I called them almost every day since Mom passed a couple years ago. I know Dad did not fear death, in fact he welcomed it, because it meant he would be reunited with Mom and with the Lord. He looked forward to graduating from this life and beginning eternal life.
John 14:1-3
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if not I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, you may be also."
Dad is gone to that place that the Lord prepared for him. My only sorrow is that I will miss him, but he is where he had longed to be. Completely whole, at peace and in the presence of Our Lord.
God bless you all!
Thank you Rick, that's a great verse. The verses that come after that are a great promise!TrickyRick wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 9:55 pm Thoughts and prayers go out for you and your family. John 14:1.

Re: Requesting prayer for my father and the family.
Dale, I’m just seeing this. Prayers for all y’all left behind. No matter how prepared we are for a loved one’s passing, we’re still never ready.
But I thank God that for the believer, death’s sting has been removed, and the grave holds no victory. Our Father owns the land on both sides of great veil!
“Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (for we walk by faith, not by sight:) we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 5:6-8 KJV
