Madmarco

Post by toomanyknives »

Has anyone heard from Madmarco? I haven't seen a post in a while. I've PM'd him with no answer. I've never seen him MIA for this long..

I know this isn't the forum to post this in, but I thought it would get the most eyes on it..

I also noticed that he had been quiet, but when I checked, his last post was Jan 14.....I do hope he is fine but 11 days is not a terribly long time. Maybe he has no comfort knives to post and he is keeping himself occupied watching the NHL.

I hope that's all it is, Ike. He's always answered my PM's though. Hope all is well with him..

I thought maybe he was just taking a little break but it has been 2 weeks today since he has signed in, and I am beginning to wonder.

I know he’s bought knives and received some from members here, someone is bound to have it. If they had name/ city info maybe they could do a google search and report back.

That's what I was thinking, C. I hate to think the worst, but he's always responded quickly to my PM's and I've never seen him off the site for more than a day or two. I hope he's in the Bahamas with no internet though!

I have emailed Mark and have gotten no reply. I am trying to search the many, many emails I have had with him over the last 5 years to find a phone number, but so far I’ve not been able to find it. Still searching for it and if I get in touch with him I will report back. This is not like him and it’s concerning.

Thanks SSK. I too have had many emails with him, but no phone or full name.

Hi Coley. I am concerned too. Apparently, no one has heard from him in over 2 weeks. Although I have never met Mark in person, we normally talk via email or PM at least once a week, and sometimes, depending on what we've got cooking, many times a week. I have been leaving him PM's via AAPK and emails (the regular kind outside of AAPK via gmail) and no reply. I do have his phone number and address and have mailed knives to him at his address in Winnipeg multiple times. I would share his phone number and/or home address with you guys, but I only have that information because of the knives that we have exchanged with each other and don't know if he would want me sharing that information with anyone. I did just call his telephone number and got what I assume is his answering machine. I'm planning to mail him a good, old-fashioned letter on paper this week if I don't hear from him soon. If you, or anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks and best regards. Herb ::teary_eyes::

Herb, would you mind searching his name on Google. I hate to think that an obituary might show up, and I sure hope it doesn't, but maybe an internet name search would reveal something..

Thanks Herb, that’s what I was hoping for. I didn’t want his personal info put out, just hoping someone that had it may have reached out. Like mentioned, I wondered if anyone had searched obituary (seems morbid but..) for his given name in Winnipeg. I got the impression he lived alone, hope all is ok.

Maybe check the Winnipeg police blotter, too ::paranoid::. In situations like this the mind automatically assumes the worst. My worry is that the Law finally caught up with him for all his autos. He was pretty cavalier about flouting the law and, in my experience anyway, the Law don't like being mocked. That would really suck ::sot:: if that were the case.

This is concerning. He’s a great guy. Glad you guys are checking up on him. Anxious to here what you find out.

I didn’t know this thread was here and started the same one in Switchblade forum. Yes,this is odd! Maybe he got the flu or covid. I think he would still be here though. I doubt the Mounties take you to jail for knives but I don’t know. Wait it out I guess.

Herb, If you do in fact have Marco's contact info why don't you call the police in his town, and ask them to do a welfare check on him?

I looked up Mark Sopher's address in Winnepeg and it is not Mark's address. Fortunately I saved one of the most recent packages I received from Mark, and it has the FedEx mailing label with Mark's address on it.

I really don't have much to do with this but happened to think that I remember reading that when Madmarco came aboard Mark - Sharpshinyknives paid his initial membership for him. Has anyone considered that it might have lapsed, and he is without funds? Maybe an admin could check on his membership status

Bob, It still looks like he is a member, and he still could post even without paying any dues. The support of the site is voluntary unless something has changed that I don't know about. Good thought though.
