Case blades

Post by tallguy606 »

I see that most Case 6318 medium stockman knives have a Turkish clip main blade. Once in a while I see one with a regular clip main blade. All have the same pattern number. Why does Case use two different blade shapes and the same model number? Do they do this with other patterns?

They did that during the XX era, then again in recent years up to the current year. No real rhyme or reason. I think that they are just trying to offer minor variants while not fussing with new pattern numbers.

I may be way off base here, but a question regarding Case blades
might have a better chance of being answered in the Case forum?

The simple answer is that the "model number" 6318 does not include a digit for blade shape. It would not change if the main blade was changed to a spear point or spey. 6 designates handle side cover material. 3 is the number of blades. 18 is the handle frame size and shape.
