Help Identifying This Knife

This knife came in an estate lot from a New Jersey collector. I'm wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what its use might have been. It has no markings and is really tight with strong snap. My first guess is some kind of military knife or a traveler's, hunter's, or soldier's mess knife. Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ::hmm::
