Unknown CASE Fixed Blade Knife

This was my Grandfathers knife. It was given to him by his Father somewhere around 1933 according to Grandma. Just trying to confirm if this knife was made around 1933, Also does anyone know the model number?

Welcome to AAPK. Unfortunately the only help I can offer is the picture below from an article by Case fixed blade expert Brad Wood. The article is published in Sargent’s Premium Guide to Knives 7th Edition. Your knife looks to be the same as the knife on the far left in the photo. It seems your post title is prescient- it is an “unknown” pattern. Meaning at the time the article was written its author had no information identifying the pattern.

There are some here who may know more.

Seems like there was a guy that started posting here a couple years ago that was part of the case family. As I recall he had lots of info on obscure models.

I'm attaching a picture of an update by Brad Wood about your knife. It's a very nice knife and the period is the early 30s. The pattern number is 551. Brad is the most knowledgeable person on Case Fixed Blades.

Oldblade got it! Yeah, Brad and I agree this model was actually made by KA-BAR for Case. They are truly beautiful hunting knives!
