2001, 2002 Bullet Knives

Finally got a 2011 Remington Bullet Knife so my collection is complete for 1982-2013 - almost! The 2001 and 2002 knives have celluloid handles, and I just can’t bring myself to get these. I’ve been told, old or new, it doesn’t matter, celluloid has the potential for outgassing. I like to store this collection in drawers, and that’s definitely not what you’re supposed to do with celluloid. Anyone else have/had reservations about the 2001-2002 knives?

Tim, I have reservations about ALL knives with celluloid scales, and I think you are entirely correct about wanting to avoid storing any knives with celluloid in any type of closed environment. I've been collecting knives for quite a while and have been gradually disposing of all of the celluloid knives in my collection. I know, some of the older ones may actually be less risky, but I don't want to have to worry about it. I only have about six left to go, and they are all nice Camillus Streamlines waiting for me to give them the "Full Monte" with new handle scales. And, yes, they are out in the open (on my bookshelf) far away from any other knives. Just my 2 cents.

Herb has a good point: if you can find what you want, buy it and get it rehandled.

So, what happens if you keep them in some kind of airtight contraption. I suspect if it takes to outgassing it'd really jack the knife up, but wouldn't it be jacked up regardless? And wouldn't that protect the other knives?
