Joseph Rodgers was in business from 1682-1971. In that span there were only two female monarchs, Victoria, 1837-1901, and Elizabeth 1952-last year. Since your knife says"His Majesty" it has to be dated somewhere excluding those years. The "E"(crown) R" would denote an Edward, either Edward VII,
1901-1910 or Edward VIII 1936. Since Edward VIII was only king for a few months before giving up the throne to marry his divorced girlfriend, it seems likely the knife was made somewhere between 1901 and 1910. Any other possible Edward would have reigned before the unification of England and Scotland to become the United Kingdom in 1707. I haven't seen any and this is a best guess based on English royal succession
Anyway, that's a really nice piece. Good luck with it. J.O'.

It amazes me the snap that remains. It has very strong snap on both blades. You have to love the old square kicks.

I believe the ER would be Edward Rex, which would put it between 1901 and 1910 as J.O'. mentioned. Beautiful piece!
