Genuine Remington RC5

I promised a picture of an authentic pre- 40 Remington RC5 to a fellow knife collector as a basis for comparison. Here it is.

You are correct, the knives are identical except for the bolsters, and the RC6 is identical to a RC8 except the 8 has the tipped bolsters, both of these have a clip blade instead of the spear blades that the 5 and 7 have. Remington was notorious for changing the pattern of the main blade or adding tipped bolsters to come up with a different pattern number, while using the same frame, backsprings , handles etc.

I know this is a very old thread, but I just found it. I also have a RC5. Stewart and Ritchie's Remington book says it has bone handles. The ones on mine are dyed so dark that I can't really tell, they look very similar to the composite material used by L F & C, however, there is no apparent shrinkage as there is on most of my LF&C's?

Thank's Miller Bros, that's pretty much what I figured. I have always kept it out in the open on a shelf with my other composite and celluloid handled knives.
