Help ID this lever auto "hooktail" - country / manufacturer?

Hello, AAPK experts -

Another new member here! I have a large assortment of these "hooktail" autos, made in the 1980's, and I have never learned the country of origin, or the manufacturer's name.

This particular knife is NOS, never used, sharpened, or carried, and has not been polished, so the brass has the expected +37 year patina and fingerprints. Purchased brand-new in about 1987, and stored open in a gun safe since then.

In addition to help in identifying this knife, please suggest a retail value for listing this one for sale here. I'm not certain how the "make offer" method is configured on AAPK, but that method has worked well, to everyone's satisfaction, on GunBroker.com for many years. I'll get this one listed as soon as I can create an accurate item description and reasonable asking price.

Welcome to AAPK, and good first post. Looks like you got the picture posting technique already.
The knife you’ve shown is commonly called a “birds-head” pattern due to the shape you call a “hook tail” looking like a birds head.

Selling knives on AAPK requires that you purchase a premium membership subscription. Without one you can’t post in the Knife Commerce forums. viewforum.php?f=49 They’re not expensive. Details can be found by clicking on the box to the upper right of the page where it says “Support AAPK”. Those fees and fees from the AAPK stores are how they keep the lights on here. Typically a seller will post tge knufe with a price. OBO indicates you’re willing to accept offers. Transactions are typically made via the AAPK site PM function.

I’ll leave it to one of those more knowledgeable about automatics to identify it and estimate value.

Thanks for your reply. I've seen these knives for several decades, but I still don't know if they were made in Italy, etc. The blade is simply stamped "Rostrfei", which doesn't narrow it down.

That works too. In that case you don’t need a premium membership to sell here, unless you just want one for its other benefits. You can sell via your AAPK virtual storefront. One of the admins will have to comment about whether having a store will let you sell in the Knife Commerce forum. Or you could just try posting there, and see if it works.

Thanks for the clarification - I didn't know there were separate pages for knife "businesses vs hobbyists" I'll become more familiar with the AAPK site & structure fairly quickly.

FYI, I've been buying & selling on Gunbroker.com for quite a while, but about five months ago, they dropped all seller's options for forms of payment (postal money order, PayPal, etc), in favor of some new catch-all processor called "OUTDOOR PAY".

This new processor does not appear attractive, from a Seller's point of view. The clue was OUTDOOR PAY's ten pages of detailed instructions on how to handle disputes. What seller wants to see a unilateral charge-back to a linked credit card or checking account six months after a sale, with the buyer claiming "not received" or "not as described"? Sure, just "click here to respond or create a dispute". No thanks!
