Identifying Knife Maker and Age

Hi I have this nice old mother of pearl knife and am struggling to identify the maker and age - it is G R & Co. Can anyone help?

Helenu, It does indeed look like a quill pattern knife. I’ve checked my copy of Goins Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings (the Bible of identifying old antique knives). No luck finding GR & Co.
If it’s not listed there, it must be pretty obscure. If I were to wager a guess, I’d say it was late 19th century to early 20th century.
I’d also bet (from its stylistic appearance) that it’s most likely from Sheffield England. Whatever it may be it’s one beautiful knife !
There’s a thread on this forum called “Old and Obscure Knives. You might have better luck posting your question there. Hopefully someone will be able to provide a definitive answer.

If the tang stamp actually says G. R. & Cᴏ̲ and NOT
G. R. & Co, then it was manufactured in Germany.

Quite possibly made in Germany. I thought it was English because the embellishment looks like it is Victorian. Could not find reference to that brand anywhere. If Goins doesn’t list it, it’s obscure.
