Looks like they were either running out of room or they messed up the S. I have 2 knives that have unusual etches:
One is a large German bowie that someone scrawled '' CRAZY '' on the shield. Not sure of the significance of that.
The other is an inexpensive metal handled kmmife engraved, ''THE GREAT UNITED STATES COOKIE & PLYWOOD COMPANY ''. Didn't understand that until I found out that a '' cookie '' is a wood joining device.
