Case 11031SH (Large Swell-End Jack) Resto With Pearl Scales
This 1960's single blade Case large jack came to me with badly treated walnut scales. The grain of the wood seemed to be coming apart (probably rode hard and put away wet too many times) and someone had actually branded the letter "P" inside a circle in the wood on one side. I wanted to do something different with this one, and fortunately remembered some synthetic MOP that I picked up a year or two ago (or maybe three or four). It's not quite as fiery as the real stuff, but I probably would never be able to find real MOP slabs this large or at an affordable price, and do like working with this material.

I like the combination of utilitarian blade and dressy covers. Nicely done, Herb!

Stunning knife, Herb.
I believe that material is called "Pearlex".
Beautiful work buddy, looks factory made.

Looks great, wouldn't have known it wasn't the real thing if you hadn't mentioned it. Fine job on the work.
