Stiletto switchblade repair

Post by noyza »

This is a knife i got from my dad. There are no markings anywhere so i don't know the manufacturer.
Recently it has started opening inconsistently, it swings almost all the way through but not enough to lock.
After reassembling it seems to work better, but the underlying problem is still there.
The top metal plate (the one with the button) is slightly bent outwards, and the bottom plate is sloghtly bent inwards. Its hard to tell from the pictures but the bend is definitely there, and i believe it caused the inconsistent opening.
I couldn't fully disassemble it because the hinge rivet is holding everything together.

How can i fix the bent plates?
Is there a way to remove the hinge rivet without damaging it?
