Viking EW New York fixed blade knife
Recently purchased a fixed blade knife marked Viking EW New York. Any information would be greatly appreciated as I have never ran across this brand.

Welcome to AAPK. That's not a stamp you see very often. Thanks for sharing!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Re: Viking EW New York fixed blade knife
Viking was a trademark of Eric Wedemeyer who had a sporting goods store in New York city during the 1930s. Many were made for him by Union Cut (KA-BAR), some by Kinfolks. If your knife has a nickel guard it was made by Union Cut and if the guard is aluminum it was made by Kinfolks. The blade is very worn and was likely a KA-BAR 72 model.

Going to add my two cents worth, don't get to show these off too often. A VIKING and an OLCUT, (Union, Ka-BAR). They are identical except for a slight color difference in the celluloid. Your Hunter is the first one I've seen. An HOK for sure.

Thank yall for the comments. I'm learning. I love the older steel in earlier knives.

After a little cleaning. Will finish another time. Cannot seem to find another knife similar on the internet. Was wondering if anyone has a guess at value? Does have aluminum pommel. Thank you.

Re: Viking EW New York fixed blade knife
Now that you have posted larger enlargeable photos, you knife was made by Kinfolks, not KA-BAR. Value? In general stacked leather old hunting knives aren't as collectable as stag or bone handled knives. Yours has pretty severe blade wear, mediocre handle condition and no sheath. I'd say value under fifty bucks, maybe a good amount under fifty. Most Kinfolks leather handled hunters in near mint condition with proper sheaths rarely break $80 except for those made for the military during WW2. If you put it on ebay with a $10 opening bid it will reach fair market price.
