God Uses Us All

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

God Uses Us All

Post by dlr110 »

My Pastor has a special needs brother, Mark, who is 55 but mentally he is somewhere in his early teens I believe. He has been able to live somewhat independently in a kind of a mother in law house on the property belonging to my Pastor.

Recently Mark fell and broke one of his upper legs and has been in rehab for over a month now. He has made good progress but he has had several falls in the recent past and his bones are getting very brittle. Therefore he can no longer live without 24 x 7 care which means he will have to move into a senior care facility.

I didn’t know until recently that Mark had been a personal friend of Bob Ross the painter we use to see on TV. The one thing that Mark is very good at is oil painting, he got that from Bob Ross (and the Lord). One of my special projects was to do a woodburning of Bob Ross with one of his "happy trees" and make it a wall clock face to put in Mark’s room at the care facility. I used the red and white hands because there is always beautiful color in Mark’s life. Pray for Mark as he enters a new phase of his life. By the way Mark has already lead one person to Jesus Christ at the facility. God's not done and is still using Mark to HIS glory.

Thanks for sharing that about Mark. Sounds like he is a special person, using gifts God has given him to best advantage. And also you, David, are doing the same with your wood burning talent and skills. I’m sure Mark will be delighted to have the clock and it’s “special-to-him” custom design. Praying that Mark’s broken leg heals quickly and the Lord will protect him from future harm.

It never ceases to amaze me how God uses those who are humble in the eyes of men to do great things and to use them to bless others. It sounds like Mark is a man of humble spirit and great faith. It sounds like he is a blessing to others by his willingness to share his faith and to share the talents God has given him.
May God bless him for his faithfulness and heal and protect his body.

Thank you for sharing the story David and his warmed my heart. And thank you for sharing your talent with Mark. God bless you both!

What a beautiful story!
My prayer is that God will continue to use Mark to show others the way.

Wouldn't it be great if this was the type of story that was what we got to hear on the news?
Thank you for sharing the details with us, David. Your subject line and comments by Dale, Mike and Ken are "right down the pipe"!
Praying the Lord will bless Mark as he has started a new phase of his life. ::pray::

It is bittersweet to hear his story. I have a son who is Special Needs, and I often wonder what his life will be like when I am gone.
I will be praying that Mark handles the adjustment to his new home well, and that the Lord continues to use him.
Jesus is life.
Everything else is just a hobby.
