ended up @ GEC again

Made a stop @ GEC today. kinda busy there today. A guy walked out with a bagful as we entered and another guy came in just as we were exiting. had another great visit with Bill . That guy likes talking knives He brought up a bunch of stag slabs to explain some different things, oh boy, some good lookin stag too. He detailed what to look for when determinge the best qualities of a knife. My brother picked up an S stamped elderberry bone Sheffield Jack. The S was stamped because there appears to be a crack in the bone between 2 pins but its not a crack, just how the bone took the dye but they dont want it to get sold and sent back. I snagged a stag Shaffer farm whittler, got to pick from 3. Then took a osage orange Beerlow. They werent in the store yet so Joan grabbed one that was finished off the line. These little things are most appealing in hand. Did see all the different models going thru the line. Also noticed the guy in rough grinding working on a larger frame which must be the next knife coming but no sense in asking whats it gonna be! I will try and post photos tomorrow .

Oooooooooooooooooohh, I'm jelous. Would love to roam around the factory sometime, but never get to that State. Might have to plan a trip someday, good to hear what is going on and what it's like to be there. Thanks.

I’m jealous too, Rob. I’d love to get a tour and talk with Bill Howard! I will forever remember my tours of the Case factory, Moore Maker (not a knife factory, but a knife distribution facility), and G.W. Stone’s custom knife-making shop. Educational and an unequaled opportunity to talk knives with those in the business.

GEC and Buck tours are on my bucket list.
