Macintosh Heather Cleveland Germany ?

Hi guys , I was sent a lovely package today from a friend in the uk , one of the knives is a McIntosh Heather Cleveland Germany ? I’ve not heard of this company other than a dame named company in Ohio in the early part of the 1900’s does anyone have any info , thanks in advance

That was not at all unusual for the time. Late 19th and early 20th century the U.S. cutlery industry was growing, but there was still a large import business. Many hardware distributors and local stores had cutlery and other items made with their proprietary trade names (like “Heather in this case) stamped on them. The congressional tariff acts of the 1890s began to change the cutlery landscape and reduce the imports but it didn’t happen over night.

Taken from the window on the train. “Lingers in the memory of those fortunate enough to have seen it” indeed! Saw a lot of men wearing kilts but no women wearing them.

My ancestors on my fathers side are Scots. While visiting Scotland last summer we found the old clan lands near Inverness (overlooking Loch Ness in fact). My clan (one of the Clan Chattan affiliates) backed the wrong side during the Jacobite rising. Several were killed in the Battle of Culloden and many more were subsequently exiled and scattered all over the world, after which the clan lands were lost/forfeited. Today there is nothing left there but a small park with some monuments, but while there I met one of my long lost “cousins” who lives nearby and happened to be there that same day.

Beautiful countryside. Hope to return some day.

Ken Scotland is a beautiful place , my clan on my mums side is Andersen, I don’t know much about my dads side as don’t see him, it’s a long story,
