Have case knifes went to the dogs?
Can anyone tell me what country’s case imports material used in their knifes these days? What parts of a case knife these days are made from domestic materials , What parts are made from imported?

I doubt anything has changed except the label wording. It’s been well known and no secret for decades that Case imports bone from Argentina, stag from India, MOP and woods from various countries. Unless stated otherwise they’re all assembled in and shipped from Bradford, PA.

It is the blades ,frames ,back springs , I’m curious about.i have know for years that scales were imported. Lol the John deer knife has no bone, stag ,wood . I would also like to add that the Red Ryder knifes cost a fraction of what a case knife cost these days.with the same quality as a case knife offered today for everyday use I would have to buy the R.R. Knife before a case .Thomasg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 11:51 amIt is the blades ,frames ,back springs , I’m curious about.i have know for years that scales were imported. Like I said, the wording on the label has changed, to more accurately represent what has been the situation for decades. They’re not going to print different boxes by knife pattern.
I can assure you without a doubt the knife was made in Bradford, PA. That Case’s newer offerings in stainless steel are 135CM and S35VN steel, both of them high-end U.S. made products from Crucible Steel, is indicative of Case’s commitment to American-made content - there are literally hundreds of foreign steels available to choose from if so inclined.
You can believe what ever you want. We both know beyond any doubt the origin of content in RR’s product. Congratulations on helping fund the Chicom military and their government’s stated goal to overthrow the U.S.

I don't live too far from bradford, PA actually. One of these days I plan on visiting Case, Zippo, GEC, and Yeungling on a big ole road trip. On topic though, I have seen case's quality dip over the years but still better than R.R. The Reserve line is pretty decent though. As for supporting the Chinese people and whatever you think about them and their knives. Most of the stuff in your house came from there more than likely, your car was half made there, some of your food comes from there. You can't really get around not supporting them very easily at least. I don't particularly care where or who made something as as I get my dollars worth.

You’re right, but you might be surprised at how easy it is to find and buy “stuff” not made in China. All it takes is awareness and a will to try.Swoop03 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 4:37 pm I don't live too far from bradford, PA actually. It’s your money to do with as you choose. When I spend mine I choose to “make a difference with that one”. I remember my WWII Purple Heart recipient father telling me about being shot at and bombed by an enemy using American-made lead and steel, willingly sold to them as scrap which they made into battleships, airplanes, rifles, shells, bombs and bullets. “Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” BTW I have nothing against “the Chinese People” (in fact I have several friends among them) - it’s the Chicom government, their covert and overt actions against us and our allies that concern me. And which takes a portion of every dollar spent on “Made in China” goods, and uses it to fund their military and those overt and covert operations.

I only have 2 R.R. Knifes that were gifted to me .I have 1 frost that was gifted to me .all made in china .I just bought 2 case knifes to give away for x-mass.The case quality to me just seems to be on a down hill spiral these days compared to say one made in the late 70s.You answers. About the blade quality and where they were. Made satisfies my curiosity .As long as we are a dumping ground for Chinese goods like the phone I’m typing on I don’t think we have to worry about them over throwing the United States .They have to much to loose by taking us down.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 4:13 pm Like I said, the wording on the label has changed, to more accurately represent what has been the situation for decades. So, you’re saying you believe we won’t buy their goods or be a dumping ground (which we are) when they’re in charge of the government?
The country won’t save itself. We all have to do our part. I’m simply trying to do mine. It’s a complicated subject, but I believe in trying to do my part in the best way I can. Some are making self-justifying excuses for their behavior. - it’s easier. JMO.

Re: Have case knifes went to the dogs?
I'll give an unpopular opinion: isolation is not the right answer. We live in a world economy. That's not going to change. History has shown again & again that the most powerful force for peace is TRADE. When we have healthy trade with other countries, we have incentives to work together to succeed. Trade allows an exchange of not just money and goods, but also culture & ideas. Compare the China or Russia of today with where those countries were in 1950. Both are FAR more capitalist now. When countries trade with the USA, they become more like the USA.
I support US businesses. I also demand quality products and high value, regardless of the country of origin. If two products are of equal quality and value, and one is produced in the USA, I will choose the USA product. However, I will not compromise quality & value just to purchase domestic.
I also want every business, regardless of location, to act ethically, treat employees fairly and minimize harm to our planet.
Last thought: I'm willing to bet the Case plant uses tooling, fixtures and supplies that are made worldwide. CNC machines are full of electronic components that are made in Chinese factories. Belt sanders use abrasive belts made in Asia. Computers run software that was written by programmers in India or Eastern Europe. Plastic is shipped to recyclers in 3rd World countries and then shipped back to suppliers worldwide and combined with virgin plastic made from oil byproducts that also come from international suppliers.

Re: Have case knifes went to the dogs?
This thread is getting dangerously close to being moved to the restricted "Controversial" forum (as is so often the case whenever the issue of made in China knives arises), so I'll attempt to steer it back to the original topic regarding the seeming decreasing QC standards of modern Case knives.
For the record, I am a lifelong fan of Case knives. My very first pocket knife was a 1975 Case 6207 that I purchased with my own lawn mowing/odd jobs money when I was 10 yrs old and I have loved Case knives (and that pattern in particular) ever since.
Sadly, however, the last Case knife I bought, a 2022 6154W Wharncliffe Trapper with Green Micarta covers, was not up to the standard of quality I generally expect from a Case knife (this particular knife and its various issues, as well as one member's frustrating & unsuccessful attempt to have it "fixed" by Case, has already been discussed in other threads, so I won't rehash it here).
My most recent experience with a new Case knife is still ongoing, i.e., back in September of this year, I pre-ordered a Jigged Buffalo Horn Mini Trapper BH207W from Shepherd Hills Cutlery. At the time of my order, their listing clearly stated, "Order now for October delivery". At the end of October I still had not received the knife and the SH listing had changed to "Currently on Backorder". I have checked the SH website EVERY SINGLE DAY since Nov. 1 and there was no change. This very morning, however, when out of habit I checked on the status, lo and behold, the BH207W had completely disappeared from the SH site altogether. Panic stricken (Mini-T Monkey, not me!), I called SH to inquire about the mysterious disappearance of the BH207W (all the other BH models were still showing and were still on backorder) and was told that the reason the listing had been removed is because SH had received the maximum number of pre-orders they would be able to fill once they finally received the knife from Case. Additionally, I was advised not to expect it to be in until sometime in January 2023.
Now, anyone who knows me/Mini-T Monkey, knows I am not a terribly patient collector when it comes to waiting for a knife The Monkey really wants. At a cost of $122.99, the BH207 was not particularly inexpensive either (for a mini trapper). So, if/when it ever does arrive, if it is not "up to snuff" and at least on par with my other modern 07s, but more like the 6154W trapper, I will be very, very unhappy. If such is the case (no pun intended, however applicable), it will likely be the last modern Case knife I ever buy...which would be a very sad day for Mini-T Monkey indeed
.
Only time will tell, and, believe me, as a loyal Case customer for over 45 years, I am
and
with bated breath.

Re: Have case knifes went to the dogs?
Back to original OP question…the last few Case knives I received for my personal keeping, (I don’t open every case box I sell through my AAPK storefront) but the 3 or so of my own buying were solid F&F but the grinds were awful, if you pulled them across a micro cloth to remove fingerprints it would grab and almost pick the cloth. But the rest of the knives were good.

Not to beat a
…but I toured a Firearms plant in south Florida their guns are stamped made in USA and that was 100% accurate they are made on USA soil but none of the workers spoke any English or appeared to have any green cards as to be US citizens. So maybe we need to look for made in USA by American workers.

Thank you for posting the thread link.Looking at a box from one of my tested xx trappers I see in smaller print under made in U.S.A. With domestic and imported material that I had previous over looked. Along with mumbleypegs response on the blade material being made by crucible I feel some what better about my most recent case x-mass purchases .just bob wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 3:08 am It's been this way for a while. You personally checked every worker's immigration status? Or, did all the workers just look "not American enough" to you? This is one of the most racist posts I have ever read on this forum.JamieinWV wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 9:49 pm Not to beat a![]()

My question is how did Queen go out of 'biddness again?
I've picked up some NOS/NIB Schatt and Morgan pieces over the past years and they seemed to be great quality to me
Did Queen go to the dogs years ago before they went under? I was always happy with the Queen knives I bought when they were in 'biddness
