Nice knives!! I have a black one with readable etch, not quite as nice as yours. Mine, like your black one is missing the finger guard.

I think NEFT knives are very interesting. Someone had zn idea, made it and put it to market with some level of success, given the numbers of surviving examples.

And I think those mottled handles are some of the most attractive ever made.

Smith & Wesson used a very similar pattern on some handles grips in the 19th century, specifically on their long barreled pistols with an attachable shoulder stock, their so-called rifle. It was available in three different barrel lengths.

I agree about the handles Charlie. It seems there are more black than the brown.You see many of these with damaged bolsters.I suppose by someone who didn't know how to operate it.
