What are these blades for?

Post by TempEdge »

Can anyone tell me what the two unconventional blades on this are for? The 2 in question are the long straight blade with a sideways hook on the top, and the serrated blade that looks like it's for cutting hair? I see no markings of any kind.

Without having it in hand, it looks like a horseman’s knife. The comb blade is for untangling/trimming the horse’s mane and tail. The hooked blade is for picking rocks, mud and debris out of hooves.

That is definitely what it is. With the right keyword, I can see lots of them online now.
Thanks for your help.

The “serrated” blade looks like the combs we used to remove bot fly eggs on the horses legs. You can see the little eggs laid in the hair of the hoses legs.
