The clippers were a nice e-bay find to add to my small collection of western states knifes..a barber told me one time he liked to keep his customers in the chair as long as possible so the felt they got their moneys worth and would come back to see him again.lol

My 'butch' haircuts (75 cents) in the 1960s took 20 minutes. It was a 2 minute haircut. Obviously. Meanwhile, clippers, scissors and razors were mostly outsourced and imported from Italy and Germany for the American cutleries.

All of my haircuts for my first 14 years were with clippers exactly like that. Mom had been giving haircuts that way for 30 years or more and was pretty good at it. When you live 25 miles from town with no electricity ya gotta make do with what you have. I still have the clippers and they look exactly like those in the original post, but they are stamped with the name "PRIESTS ROTA". I was in high school before I ever had a store bought haircut.

I know what you mean about store-bought haircuts. I don't have enough hair left to make it worthwhile so haven't been to a barber for 10 or 15 years.

Last time I had a store bought haircut was when I had my hand in a cast from an operation. Been a while back.

I bought a set of clippers with all the attachments many years ago.
I have to admit I can give myself just as good of a haircut as what I use to get at the barbershop.
Not to mention all the money I've saved.

When I was about 14 I bought my first pony, a Shetland. In the spring I clipped the whole thing with a pair of these. it took 4-5 days after school as I recall. And I used those same clippers until maybe 10 years ago for trimming fetlocks and bridle paths.
I use the same ones on my head now as I do on the horses but it is electric. 20 bucks for a haircut just ticks me off.

I got tired of paying $12.00 for a haircut that took less than five minutes. Bought me a FlowBee system 15 years ago and have saved thousands of dollars. I do all the minor trimming around my ears and my wife trims up the back. Ten minutes max. I use it once a month.

Thanks for your responses guys .I am new to the board and this was my first attempt at posting .I got a friend at work who found the clippers on e-bay with the by now option and scooped them up for because of my interest in collecting knifes knowing that I like collecting the western states and boulder Colorado knifes that date before the platts sold out to Coleman .the only information on the shears I have are on page 30 and 31 one of the knife makers that went west by Harvey platts that information is limited with only a couple pictures of advertisements with them listed as being offered for sale with one of the pictures being a envelope post marked 1899 .I have not tried the shears out yet.back when the Covid hit hard and the barber shops shut down I couldn’t find any electric clippers for humans they like like toilet paper were scarce as hen teeth .I bought a pair of dog clippers from the tractor supply store and because I like my hair clipped as short as I can get it the served their porpoise just fine.lol

My Dad brought back from WW II the same clippers as in the OP. I found them one day and tried them on my arm hair, but they were so dull all they did was grab and pull the hair. I bought electric clippers years ago and would do all my own grooming, but as the years rolled past my hair became thinner and thinner until there was no point in using the clippers other than to give myself a "Buzz" cut right down to the scalp. I haven't paid for a haircut for 55 years!
