Case XX Green Bone Question?

Post by DMLEATH »

I don’t have many older case knives but I was wondering if this one would be considered Green Bone? Thanks for all the help I have received!

My opinion based on the pictures is yes that is greenbone. Some purists maintain true greenbone exists only on Tested stamped knives - I’m not one of them. I’ve seen some XX era knives I would call greenbone.

Nice knife! ::tu::

Looks like a fine old green bone CASE to me. Very nice.

I wish someone or a group of collectors would give a definitive answer to the "green bone" issue. As expressed here, there are purists who say green bone is a "Tested" feature and other say extended into the "XX" years.I've been near some pretty heated discussions at shows about the subject. I have a "tested" stockman that is as green as it can be, and some XX's that are approaching green. Maybe it's just part of that old Case mystique.
Top and middle= TESTED
Bottom= XX (Sure looks more red.)
