Puma Knife?????

Hi,new to these forum and have been reading through present and passed posts. Anyway I'm not a great collector of folding knifes but I do have a old Congress that I bought back in the 70's at a farm auction in a can of junk that I've been carrying since. Skinned a lot of small game and other chores like cleaning my finger nails until the wife decided that some new handy dandy nail clippers with the built in file was better. Anyway I have a Puma 971 folder with 2 blades,one is a knife and other a saw blade called the Game Warden.I'd like to know anything about it as to age,valve etc. This forum I haven't found anything on Puma's maybe because there made in Germany????It seems well built and has done up a lot of deer for me,only problem is its stainless steel blade that doesn't hold a edge long. Anyway any help would be appreciated. BIG MAC

welcome big mac. don't know a lot about puma. the older ones were supposed to be quite good . the 5" 970 and 971 game wardens were two of their most popular hunters. maybe someone here knows something about them.

I'll have to second what Jonet said. Puma has always been held in high regard, around my neck of the woods. I've owned the 971 myself, altho' I never used it for processing deer, they always held an edge about like a Buck.

Value would, of course, depend on condition - can't help you with that one.

Well I do appreciate the fast responses to my question.The web site for Puma knifes did answer some of my questions but in doing so it raised more questions.Again thanks I will keep monitoring this post if anything further developes.I'm not one to do much chit chatting so don't be offended if I don't post to just put my 2 cents worth in. If I have something to add that I feel is of value I will but I think you guys are way out of my league on this stuff. Got a ole boy down here who was a operating engineer on road constuction who collects knifes,must have 5000 or more of them and knows the limited edition, one of a kind like the back of his hand. Well he's getting up in his years and his daughter said she wish he'd sell them before he dies but he won't part with them yet.Anyway thanks again for your time and trouble...BIG MAC

Here's a pic from an old catalog (1977) along with price list, and a couple of my knives. According to the Puma site from the link posted by El Lobo the one in stag is from 1976, the one in black plastic is from 1980.

That's it, Don you nailed it, it brought back memories since I got it as a birthday gift but couldn't remember when. Now that the ole noodle is jogged I remember because the following year I bought the best pick-up truck I've ever had,a 78 Ford F-250 4x4 Jade metalflake green pretter than a high school cheerleader.
