I just picked this up today and don't recognize the stamp other than being Sheffield.

I don't recognize the brand name, don't see it in Goins' or Levine's, but the "Sheffield Steel" mark does not mean it was made in Sheffield, it is seen on German knives and knives made in India, maybe others.

I found S.G. co. in Goins. Maybe S.G. New York?
