Spyderco, way to go!

Here's my first Spyderco (Para Military) in a comparison photo with my Benchmade Mini Griptilian. The Military is even bigger but with same blade thickness as the Para. These are my pets.
The Spydie liner lock is sunk in the G-10 slab like an inlay. It presses against the tang, but if you hold back the lock, the blade swings freely.
Action as smooth as Belgian chocolate.

i only have the two a police i bought in 1985 when i had my gunshop and later the companion neck knife.

It's actually a compression lock, not a linerlock. Its a really smooth lock.

How does it work? How is it different from the liner lock? Is it an improvement?

If you have the time for some light reading, here is a thread from the Spyderco site that will help explain the mechanics of the Compression lock, and how it relates to the Liner lock.....

I happen to have an original Frank Centofante designed Vesuvius, featuring the Spyderco Compression lock. The lock is in the top of the knife, and is much harder to squeeze out of a safe position. Sorry the pictures suck, I'm a mite shakey today I guess.
