General Idea on Value for a Few Knives

Post by Jeffinn »

Someone contacted me recently with a group of knives left to him from his father. There's a couple of knives that I believe to be of a higher value than some of the others.
Can one of you good folks give me a ballpark estimate of what these two knives might be worth (just knife number 1 and 2 in the last photo)?
1. Schrade / Loveless RL-2. Very good condition, with sheath, not used. This does not have a serial number
2. Schrade Walden (SW) MC1, Coast Guard Orange.

The Camillus MC-1 paratrooper knives go for around $100. Schrade Walden versions seem less common, and bring a little more. Here’s a real nice one that recently sold on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203879798235?h ... SwlOhiMici

Sorry I can’t tell you anything about the Loveless. Looks like a nice one though.

Unfortunately, those paratrooper knives often suffer from blade wobble and subpar lock-up. The example that Ken linked to seems to have shrunken covers, or they didn't fit properly to begin with. My paratrooper knife suffers from those issues.

$100 is a fair starting point for a paratrooper knife, but I can see a really good one bringing a premium.

I paid $250 and $150 for two examples of the Schrade Loveless, but both were new in the box with papers and sheaths. I paid $40 for a mint parachute knife 15 years ago. Yes, they sell for $100 and more. They are junk. That Schrade Loveless is a very nice knife. I think $100 pretty easy if the photos are good.
