Need Boxes in Order to Mail Knife Books

Guys,
This is a kinda strange question but it does relate to knives. In a recent collection I got two knife books and a catalog, all in very good condition. I would like to sell them here but I cannot locate the boxes that are designed as being for media mail. I can get the priority boxes but the mailing cost using them is high. These will require boxes about 9X12x2 inches.
Any ideas where I might find this type of box without having to buy 25 or 50 of them?

I've ran into much the same problem and have found that ordering them online is not a wise move. Even if you can find 5 or fewer, the shipping is still very expensive. What I've found that really works well for me and is in abundant supply is cut open cases from the local Aldi's store. Vegetables and canned goods come in these. You can usually get all you want for free. You can put two together and make a top & bottom and have a very sturdy shipping container. Cardboard beer cases will also work well. May not be big enough for what you need. At least here Aldi's has an abundant supply of free boxes, and you can modify them to suit your purposes.

Ray if you get Amazon shipments some of the boxes they use work perfectly. Inside is 12"x 8 7/8". They're 3 or 4 inches high but that doesn't really matter as there are no size limits for media mail. Just tell the person at the PO that you'd like to send via media mail and they ring it right up. Large bubble mailers that are sold at Staples also work well, in fact they also sell boxes individually that might work.

Ray, I have used the priority boxes and wrapped them in brown paper.

I occasionally buy used books from on-line sellers. Some come packaged as Bob described. Just an old cardboard box of unknown origin which has been cut, folded and taped to fit, usually with a layer of bubble wrap or foam wrapped around the book inside the cardboard. And shipped at the “media mail” rate.

Ive cut panels from cardboard to fit the object, then taped them as I assemble them to fit. Works and no cost and sumthin to do.

Thanks, guys. I am gonna see if I can make my own out of old cardboard I have laying around. Failing at that, I'll look into the other methods set out.

Ray, we have stores over here called office works, they are retailers open to the public selling office and school supplies and they sell all sizes of mailing and packing boxes, in bulk or as single units. You may have something similar.

I just last week mailed some books through the P.O.. All you have to do is tell the clerk that your mailing books (media) and they will charge you by the weight, all you have to do is tell them there books and you pay the lesser fee. They told me that they were subject to inspection if they feel the need.
