American Shear & Knife Co. ???

This my first post on AAPK, I have been collecting and trading knives since I was a little fellow and thats been a long time. This is the first American Shear & Knife Co. knife I have ever had. I focus on 70-80's Case but this knife but found this knife in an old gun store in White Sulpher Springs WV. It is a large 3 blade stockman with orange/brown bone handles, all blades are stamped with the American Shear & Knife Co. logo. The only information I have found is in the Standard Knife Collectors Guide and it not much info there. I don't have a digital camera to take a pic. Any information would be helpful? welcome! if from the original company, c1853-1914, hotchkissville, con. american shear and knife co. made shears. pocket knives added to line around 1870. by 1910 shears were dropped. plant burned in 1914 after being bought by waterville cutlery of waterville, con. - goins
does the knife appear to be from that era? would love to see pics. do you have a scanner?

I would bet my last dollar my knife is a fake, the knife looks like a large Case CV stockman with the handles changed, I'm going to take a pic at work and will try and email you with it. I'm not a computer wiz so bear with me. I had never heard of a AS&K and only found a small bit of info in my one book, but I'm in it cheap (20) so no big deal, heck it's a pretty knife with good metal, it's worth that as a carrier. You know that little voice inside you that tells you something is not right, that is what this knife told me . Thanks a bunch,

I just sold an American Shear anglo saxon whittler on Ebay. It looked every bit like a knife from the Obertz factory that Jim Parker had made. It was definitely not an old knife. It had bone handles like the ones on the second generation bulldogs. The way you describe yours it might be of the same vintage.

here is joe's american shear and knife. sent to me by email. click twice to enlarge. joe, it appears to have had the tang ground and a stamp added. sorry. it's not even one of the parkerized versions. a good user at $20.

This is my grandfathers pocket knife… He came to Middllebury Ct in 1920. It is an American shear and knife co. I know it was a Connecticut company. Anything???
