a little more research turned up a connection with battle axe knives of the eighties with j.w. hickey/ t. shouse as the importers.

Washington Court House, Ohio used to be a big knife trading place years ago. At least that is what the old timers tell me.

Hickey&Shouse sold Battle axe knives in the eightys per BRL#4 pg 41 Also says Battle axe was sold by A R Justicf Co of Philadelphia 1877-1937 Neither were manufacturers.

I am an "old timer" (born in 1959) and I can tell you that indeed it was a great knife trading spot. The stories I could tell you about that place, in the mid 70's when I started knife collecting....

I belive that the Hickey-Shouse knives were made by Olbertz

BTW, that Schrade whittler on the left...a hard one to find and my FAVORITE Schrade pattern....I have it in jigged bone, smooth black, and smooth wood.

Hi miked32 that small pen you're talking about is a Cattaraugus.
Knifeaholic..... I too like those whittlers. i've been told that one
was made Pre WW II. Tang stamp is from 1914 to 1937.
