Post by deadeye50 »

New to form

The dark handled one is a Millr Bro 3" Two blade
The lighter one is a Utica Cutlery Utica N.Y. also a 3" two blade.
the Utica has a slanted/fluted bolster

Neither on is in very good shape. I believe these are kinves use by my Great Grandfather.

Welcome to AAPK!! ::welcome::
Those knives look pretty good to me!
They might not be too collector quality, but many of us here appreciate knives that were carried, used, and depended upon, not just pristine Safe Queens.
Every knife has a fan somewhere on this forum.
I am glad to see that you are preserving a bit of your family's history by owning some of your Great Grandfather's knives. Feel free to post more pictures of them, anytime!

Nice! Both look like pen knives to me, the first is a Congress, or swayback pen. The second looks like an equal end pen. The Miller Brothers is near 100 years old, or older.

The graphite (lead) end of a No. 2 pencil will remove that light rust from metal without harming the knife. Just rub it on like you’re writing on it, then wipe it off with a soft cotton cloth. ::tu:: A drop of oil in each blade joint won’t hurt and will probably do a lot of good too.

Thanks for looking. My plan is to make a shadowbox for them and hang them on the wall in the man cave. I can remember my great grandfather, just about ever day he would go and hang out with his friends in town, and they were always traiding knives, and telling stories. My wife called the place they hung out. (the dead peckers bench).
