GI Woodman's Pal

Gentlemen:

I picked up a Government Issue Woodman's Pal (Model LC-14-B) at a flea market over the weekend. In researching it, I found that it was issued with two manuals,

* Care, Use and Sharpening of Knife LC-14-B
* Fighting with Knife LC-14-B

I'd sure like to get my hands on these. Anyone know where originals or copies might be obtained?

This old warrior has been doing yeoman work around the place, splitting kindling and chopping brush. It won't replace an ax and machete, but it does just fine. The pitting is pretty advanced so I don't think I'll use it indefinitely, but it's getting the job done right now and pretty well.

Sadly, it's not as issue; the original stacked leather handle has been replaced with wood. I really want to replace the wood with the original style leather; the wood tends to transfer impact to the hand and it has noticeably loosened since I started. Good project. The only thing that may cause difficulty is that I'll have to either slit the washers to get them on or grind the bottom of the tang so I can slip the D-handle off then re-peen the end. I'm hesitant to do the latter as I'd prefer not to go grinding on a piece of history.

Someone kindly directed me to the fighting manual. It's an interesting read.
