STAINLESS and CARBON on same knife

Bought this IXL Balow a week ago. The knife appears to be original, no evidence of a rebuild, pin invisible, blades fit perfectly. (See pics) Odd thing is the main blade is Carbon and the pen is stainless. I've been all over it with a microscope and it looks "stock as a stove bolt". Has anyone ever seen this situation before? Can't quite match your knife but I do have a 1970 Case Trapper 6254 with stainless blades that has a carbon back spring operating the spay blade.

I have had a few knives like that. The few I have had had a main blade marked carbon but the secondary blade was stainless and not marked. They came directly from the Queen factory so were definitely original.

During the last years of Camillus, they were putting out a lot of knives with mixed blades.
I got a sold quite a few.
I still have a few in the loaner roll for my whittlin' classes.
It was interesting to compare the performance of the stainless and carbon blades. My conclusion: no discernable difference.
