Material of Handle?

Post by DMLEATH »

I have here an Imperial Knife with what looks like Burl Wood but doesn’t feel like wood to me. Is there a synthetic Burl looking material they use? Knife is 4” closed. Any help is appreciated!

I was reading the posted article about celluloid by Dennis Ellingson. In it he said he had never seen a "1930's kitsch variegated handle" deteriorate. I think I know what that might be but just to be sure can someone show me a picture ?
