I traded a Queen hawkbill for this Hoffritz sak just because I didn't have one.

Hoffritz sourced knives from a TON of different makers. Those German-made SAK-type knives are every bit as good as the Swiss ones. Are the blades blacked out on this one? I seem to see a lot that are.

Funny that the Germans have been making what are basically blacked-out SAKs for more than 40 years; and they were fairly inexpensive. Victorinox now makes a line of "polyspectral black" coated knives, and they're usually 2-3 times the cost of the regular model just for a black coating on the blades.

I like the looks of the black blades.

I do as well. Except, it has to be black oxide/parkerizing or Cerakote. Basically though, just "black paint" as a lot of cheaper knives have, doesn't wear well, and often chips off.
