Morley & Sons congress

I came across this knife. 4 blade congress, in green bone. 3 1/4 inch long. Blades are stamped "W. H. Morley & Sons Germany" on each blade, and the back of each blade has the shamrock logo. This knife matches the same size, handles, bolster, and blades as the 6468 Case Brothers greenbone knife shown in Sargent's "Knives & Razors" book, 6th edition.

Any ideas on what a knife like this is worth? I can't find a lot of info on them.

Cannot help you as to value, but the knife was almost certainly made in Germany and imported by the Kastor Brothers of Camillus, New York.

Both W. H. Morley and the four leaf clover were logos used by them. There were four brothers, hence the clover.

I think their firm eventually became Camillus Cutlery Company.

I always like to find Morley & Sons knives, but so far this is my only one. It is a 3 1/8" Mother of Pearl Whittler. Hard to say what Morley knives are worth, as not many people have one or ever see them. Goins says the years for Morley knives with the four leaf clover on them is 1913-1927.

They certainly seem to be rare. I find it amazing that it is a near 100% identical match to the Case Bros knife from the same era. Every blade, the bolster design, pin locations, handle material. Only difference seems to be that Case's shield is a straight bar, and the Morley has a curved bar. Either the German factory stole the Case design, or the Case factory stole the German design, or the German factory made them for both companies.
