This is not a counterfeit Akonua 402, however, the seller is misleading in their "vintage" statement. The "Classic Badge of Authority" 402 Akonua was only made from 1971 to 1978 and presented in the CBA box. The Akonua the seller is putting with this box is a 1987 Akonua and passing it off as a 71-78 CBA by implying it is a CBA "rare" set. Also, the seller's 402 has Pakkawood handles (Laminated Birch)...the CBA Akonua came with black Micarta (Buck called it Bakarta back in the day) handles only...and possibly burgundy Micarta. Buck changed the handles on the 401/402 in 1981 from black micarta to Pakkawood.
Just wanted to state some facts about this 402 the seller has up for bid, in case someone here is watching it or thinking of bidding on it. You WON'T be receiving the 71-78 version 402 which actually came with this CBA set.
Just another example of someone selling something they don't know anything about or trying to pass something off as 'vintage' 'rare' and throwing a different knife into the mix, hoping no one notices. The box, paperwork is the actual box 'real' thing...just not the knife. I know I'm being redundant in what I'm saying...but wanted to be clear about what this seller is doing.
