40 Year Old Virgin Gimme Knife

Post by Tip »

No, I'm not the 40 year old...
-the knife is! :D

It's a promotional freebie that I found in my late grandfather's things a couple of years back. I forgot I had it. The main blade is tang-marked A.B. Simon Co. Germany.
It's nothing special, but I have a question or two:
Does the green stuff look like verdigris to anyone else? That's my best guess.
Also, how should I remove it?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

A drop of semi-chrome or Flitz metal polish on a piece of flannel cloth will remove the green stuff and leave the handles looking like new.

Tip,
That is a dandy! If you would, why not bring it along to the club meeting on the 5th.

Ray,

::nod::
I sure will; I'll follow the good tip from Remington Collector and clean it up first. I'll see what else I might have of interest.

if they are brass handles, i have had great success with "brass-o"
also have recently found the "miracle cloth", sold at SMKW for $2...
works great on many things.

Jody, the handles are not brass. I believe they may be pewter(?).

I'm guessing the "miracle cloth" is similar to the treated cloth my daughter uses to brighten her (silver plated) flute. I may give that a try.
